As all of you all know, my family is Greek and I’ve loved every second of being raised in a huge Greek family. Being surrounded by my family who also happens to be my best friends has been one of the greatest gifts. I was extremely conflicted when I first went abroad because I knew I wanted to go to Greece but I felt guilty going without my family because it has such a special place in my heart, I wanted to experience it with everyone I love. While I was explaining this to my mom she told me that I had to take advantage of the time that I had been given abroad and that I needed to go to Greece and fulfill my own dreams while I can. After all, when is the next time I will be able to travel the world for five months? I’m not sure.
My trip to Greece was one of the most beautiful and exciting trips I’ve ever been on. I’m tearing up thinking about it. It’s a beautiful place full of beautiful people. I’ve put off writing this post because of how sentimental the trip was personally for me.
When I was little I would always talk about going to Greece with my Pappou and talk about going with the whole family and he would show me pictures that he had or in books. Unfortunately, he passed away before our family was able to go to Greece and that’s something I will always regret even though I wasn’t old enough to do something about it. However, during my entire trip, I knew he was with me. There would be little things that would remind me of him and I just knew.
Below are some photos from my trip and as usual, I will include the video below, too.
I mean, have you ever seen a place more beautiful? I absolutely cannot wait to go back and share it with the people who I love most in my life.
